Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

1:1 iPad Program for Year 2 - 6 Students

Lollypop Creek Primary School is a 21st Century School that provides all students with the opportunity to engage with technologies that enhance their learning whilst educating our students to be safe, responsible and discerning users of digital technologies. In previous years this program was for our Year 3—6 students, however, next year we are extending this to include our Year 2 students.  This is in response to the rollout of the new English curriculum which includes typing and will also help students in Year 2 to prepare for NAPLAN which is now conducted on digital devices.

Whilst we have a bank of school owned devices that students may access, unfortunately, as we grow the number available to each year level will not accommodate all our students as often as they may need.

As a result, we strongly encouraged our Year 2 – 6 families to equip their child with an iPad which should be brought to school, fully charged every day. This will enable your child to use their individual device to access all school-based apps and store their own work.

The recommended iPads can either be an iPad Mini or full-sized iPad which should be within 4 years of age and have a childproof case.

The minimum requirements are an “iOS 17 compatible” or “iPad 6th Generation” onwards, however, if you are purchasing a new device, we recommend 2023 iPad models 9th, 10th or 11th Generation such as iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad or iPad Mini. For storage purposes – minimum storage of 64GB is recommended so that your child can store photos and videos as well as their schoolwork.

If parents are looking to purchase a new iPad, please be advised our school has established a connection with JB Hi Fi who can provide advice, guidance and support to ensure you select and purchase the most appropriate device, accessories and insurance if required.
